General vegetable intake
Two out of every three adults ate the recommended 3+ servings a day of vegetables. Unfortunately, the number of women and men eating their recommended intake for vegetables has decreased since the NZ Food and NZ people report in 1999.

Vegetable intake by age group
Young men were the least likely to eat vegetables, with less than half the men aged 15-24 years consuming the recommended intake.

Vegetable intake by ethnic group
After adjusting for age, Pacific and Asian men and women were less likely to eat the recommended 3+ servings a day of vegetables compared to men and women in the total population.

Children’s vegetable intake
The MoH 2003 report, NZ Food NZ Children, showed that approximately three out of five children met the recommended number of 3+ servings a day of vegetables.
