Antioxidants

Antioxidants are plant substances that protect the body by neutralising free radicals, or unstable oxygen molecules. These toxins can damage cells and lead to poor health.

The most common antioxidants in fruit and vegetables are Vitamin C, Vitamin E, carotenoids and flavonoids.

Phytonutrients

Phytonutrients means plant chemicals, and includes the sugars, fibre, vitamins, antioxidants that are in plants. Phytonutrients give the bright colour in fruit and vegetables and can provide a variety of health benefits.
