Eat More!

It’s not very often experts tell us to 'eat more', but that is the message from researchers in Queensland. Most people are familiar with the recommendation to ‘eat 5-a-day’ in terms of fruit and vegetables.  This is based on the World Health Organisations recommendations, to help lower the risk of health problems such as heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and obesity.

But researchers at the University of Queensland found benefits beyond physical wellbeing – they found improvements in mental wellbeing as well.  They found that people were happiest when they ate 4 servings of vegetables and 5 servings of fruit per day.

So when you hear the all familiar ‘I’m hungry’, fill them up on another serve of vegetables or fruit – all in the name of happiness and good health!
