Nutrition Classroom

Carrot munchers 2 are proud to supply resources to the Nutrition Classroom at Glen Taylor School in Glen Innes, Auckland. Doctor Sharad Paul has funded a purpose-built classroom to teach good nutrition to children and their families, particularly eating more vegetables.

The classroom opening and meal were a huge success with the School hall full of parents, grandparents, children and invited guests.

We used some of your posters to help get the message across in the hall where we served the food. The classroom is lined with them and Dr Paul is eager to use the teaching material you provided.

Chef Jinu Abraham produced a healthy meal with plenty of vegetables donated from Pukekohe growers; Sutherland's and Wilcox and Fresh Connections.

Dr Paul's message - Learn to Eat, Eat to Learn. In other words eating healthy and exercising stimulates the brain. He spoke on how sugar, including artificial sweetners, has the same damaging effect on the brain as cocaine in destroying brain cells, affecting memory and the aging process. He explained that by eating more fruit, vegetables and lean white meat we could heavily reduce the risk of many illnesses.
