Kiwi kids can cook final 2022

The 2020 Grand Final was held at the Seafood School at the Viaduct Harbour, in Auckland, on Sunday 8 November. It was held on a wonderful early summer day, with competitors brimming with excitement. Competitors cook a savoury dish in a heat and then another dish in the final; each dish must contain a minimum of three vegetables. There are two classes; Years 1-6 and Years 7-8.

Congratulations to the winners:
Josephine McEntee from Opua Primary school, Northland [Senior] and
Sam Gabb-Warren from Karetu Primary school, Northland [Junior]

JoJo won her heat with Oyster, spinach, onion, carrot and celery soup with croutons and won the Senior Final with Thai green fish curry with onion, corn and carrot.

Sam won his heat with Korean spring onion pancakes with pickled carrots, green, red and orange capsicum and won the Junior Final with Bang bang chicken with pickled vegetables in a homemade won ton basket and a spicy dipping sauce.

The judges included the President of NZ Chefs and the President and Vice President of the NZ Chefs Auckland branch. Keith Vallabh was the guest judge and he checked the New Zealand grown vegetable content of each dish.
