It is with great sadness that we share the news that Tui Flower has passed away in Auckland.

Tui was the Food Editor of the New Zealand Women's Weekly from 1965-1984, heading a test-kitchen that shaped the career's of many NZ Food Writers. She was the founding Chair and Life Member of the Foodwriters New Zealand.

In her retirement Tui passionately continued with her mission that all Kiwis should be able to cook and shared her skills endlessly to teach, mentor and assist food writers, teachers and other influencers to get the nation cooking!

A graduate of Otago University’s [then] School of Home Science Tui was an excellent cook and baker, an accomplished seamstress and brilliant craftswoman[See bespoke tapestry ].

She was also a keen gardener - her annual sweet pea crop was incredible, as was the apple tree with its eight different varieties grafted onto the central tree.

Rest in Peace Tui.
